Micah Sallid is a performer, choreographer, and arts educator based in the Bay Area. Born in Los Angeles, they began studying with Kennedy Universal Dance Design at 17 months old and performed with the Kennedy Tap Company. They moved to Atlanta, GA for their high school years and danced for Decatur City Dance in the Junior Rhythm Keepers tap company and Apprentice Ballet Company. While trying to find their own choreographic and creative voice they toured, studied, and choreographed for the Broadway Dreams Foundation. In May 2019 Micah graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a BA in Dance and a minor in Women & Gender Studies. Within their college career two of their choreographed pieces represented Saint Mary’s College at ACDA. They come from two decades of dance training in various disciplines such as Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Musical Theater and Hip Hop, has performed in all of these dance styles, and learned from legends such as Arlene Kennedy to contemporary performers like Alex Newell. Micah is currently a faculty member at Saint Mary’s College educating and choreographing tap, performing and touring internationally with the Bay Area Tap company La Mezcla, and is working towards their own multimedia artistry in the future.
Micah creates and performs art based on the idea that it is a radical act. Through their writing, dancing, or choreographing, they want to create conversation and reiterate the importance of art within society.
